HKS201-E23(HKS0201A2U) Hotkey Chip Re-programming Guide

Hotkey Chip Re-programming Guide

Note: The KVM version you're using requires you to manually open the product's casing to perform the firmware upgrade, and the upgrade tool can only be run on a Windows computer.

Before updating the KVM by opening the shell and reprogram the hotkey chip, please prepare the following tools in advance:

  •    A Screwdriver for removing all the screws
  •    A USB-A to USB-A cable or USB-C to USB-A cable capable of data transfer
  •    A pair of metal tweezers or a piece of conductive wire

Step 1: Remove all screws to open the KVM casing.

Step 2: Locate the 545 chip on the circuit board, and then short- circuit the two holes using a pair of metal tweezers or a piece of conductive wire. (As shown in the picture below, there are two holes or connection points related to the 545 chip that need to be connected electrically.)

Step 3:  Open the  programming  software  on the  computer,  select "CH54x  Series" section and choose the "CH545" chip model.

Step 4:  Using the  USB-A to  USB-A cable or  USB-C to  USB-A to  connect your computer to the dedicated mouse port on the KVM.

Step 5: The "CH545 device" should be automatically detected on the "Device List". If not, you  may  need  to  unplug  and  re-plug  the  connection  cable  and  click  "Search(E)", the "CH545" should then automatically appear.  If still not, please try  unplugging and tightly  re -plugging the  metal tweezers, connect the  KVM  power adapter and turn it on. Then the "CH545" device title should be on the list.

Of note: The KVM itself does not need to be powered on at first, but if the "CH545 device" doesn't automatically pop up on the "Device List" you could connect the KVM power adapter and turn it on. The "CH545 device" title should then appear in the list.

Step 6: Once the device title has popped up, please select the upgrade programme file, and click “ Download” .

Step 7: Wait for the upgrade procedure bar to reach  100%, indicating a successful upgrade.
