HDC403-P23 (Previously HPC0403A1U) FAQ

Pre-sales FAQ:

  1. Q: How do I connect my devices to HDC403-P?

A: There are two KVM cables (each consisting of an HDMI cable and a USB cable), four HDMI cables, one DP cable, one USB 3.0 Type-A to Type-B cable, and one USB-C cable in the product packaging.
Connect PC 1 with 1 USB-C cable:
Connect PC 2 with 1 DisplayPort cable and 1 USB 3.0 cable. Use the DP cable to connect PC 2 to the DP port on the KVM, use the USB Type-A end to connect PC 2, and the Type-B end to connect the KVM.
Connect PC 3 with 2 HDMI cables and 1 KVM cable and connect PC 4 the same way.
Connect KVM's HDMI output ports to 3 HDMI monitors with 3 HDMI cables.
  1. Q: What is MST Mode?

A: The traditional triple monitor KVM switch needs to connect 3 cables to each input device for the normal use of the triple monitor function. But our 4X3 triple-monitor KVM Switch, HDC403-P supports Multi-Stream Transport(MST) mode allowing triple HDMI displays from a single source.
If your Windows OS PC with USB-C port and is DisplayPort 1.2 compliant, you can adopt 3 console monitors from it. Support extend mode and duplicate mode at resolutions up to 4K for multitasking across 3 displays.
Tips:
① Up to now, devices running Apple’s Mac OS, Ubuntu, and other operating systems do not support MST mode.
② Limited by bandwidth, the output resolution via MST supports a maximum display of two 4K60Hz4:4:4 monitors and one 4K30Hz 4:4:4 monitor.
  1. Q: How many display modes are available for HDC403-P?

A: The HDC403-P KVM offers 2 display modes. You can choose to implement 2-screen extended display or duplicate display or display different PCs on 2 monitors.
Display Mode 1: Display the same PC:
Display Mode 2: Display different Pcs on 3 monitors:
  1. Q: Can the USB 3.0 port on the front panel charge my computer? If not, can the KVM charge my computer?

A: The USB 3.0 port on the front panel supports charging functionality with a maximum output power of 7.5W. So, it is designed to charge only mobile phones and tablets and is not suitable for charging laptops or computers.
However, connect the laptop to the rear Type-C video port of the KVM and they will be charged via the PD protocol. Please be aware that only by connecting the device to the PC1 port can it be charged. When the laptop is connected to both the KVM and the original charger, the charger will give priority to charging it. Additionally, the USB-C port on the laptop needs to support the charging protocol to be able to charge.
  1. Q: What is Lock L/R Audio and USB 3.0 Focus Function?

A: The HDC403-P supports locking L/R audio and USB 3.0 focus. After the lock is turned on, the current audio or USB focus can be maintained and only the screen can be switched when switching; the audio focus lock and USB 3.0 focus lock are independent of each other, you can lock the audio or lock the USB separately. Only need to press the front panel keys to operate the audio or USB focus lock.
Tips: The HDC403-P only supports Lock L/R Audio and USB 3.0 Focus and does not support switch audio focus and USB focus.
  1. Q: How should I connect my keyboard and mouse?

A: Inside the package, you will find two KVM cables (each consisting of an HDMI cable and a USB cable), four HDMI cables, one DP cable, one USB 3.0 Type-A to Type-B cable, and one USB-C cable.
For the PC1 port, using the USB-C cable to connect your computer to the KVM not only transmits audio and video signals but also facilitates the transfer of USB data, enabling proper control of your computer using the keyboard and mouse.
For PC2 port, PC3 port, and PC4 port, you need to connect your computers to the KVM by using one DP cable, one USB 3.0 Type-A to Type-B cable, two KVM cables, and two HDMI cables. Each KVM cable consists of an HDMI cable and a USB cable. The USB-A to USB-B cable is connected to transfer USB data between the computer and the KVM, which enables the keyboard and mouse to control computers normally. Simply connect the USB A end of the cables to their respective computers and insert the USB B end into the KVM. Then, you can connect your mouse and keyboard to the dedicated keyboard and mouse ports on the KVM.
  1. Q: Does HDC403-P support Bluetooth keyboard and mouse?

A: This model does not support Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and all our KVMs do not support Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but they all support 2.4GHz wireless keyboard and mouse and are compatible with a wide range of mechanical keyboards and mice, wireless keyboards, and mice, and multimedia keyboards and mice.
  1. Q: Can I use the keyboard and mouse on multiple computers simultaneously?

A: Our KVMs are used to share a set of keyboard and mouse between multiple computers, and the keyboard and mouse can not be used between the multiple computers at the same time, but the sharing of keyboard and mouse is achieved by switching input devices. In display mode 2 (2 monitors display the different PCs), you can double-click [Right-Alt] to switch the focus of the keyboard and mouse. This way, you can control both computers without the need to physically disconnect and reconnect the peripherals each time you want to switch between them.
  1. Q: What keyboards are compatible with your KVM?

A: Our KVM is compatible with most keyboards. Considering our KVM's keyboard and mouse dedicated ports are equipped with special hotkey chips, there are some typical reasons that may cause compatibility issues:
① Some keyboard models use proprietary protocols that are temporarily incompatible with the dedicated ports on our KVM.
② Certain keyboard models, when plugged into the dedicated ports on the KVM, consume excessive bandwidth, leading to compatibility issues such as keyboard lag or key sticking.
To address these compatibility issues, we recommend customers connect keyboards that encounter problems when plugged into the keyboard and mouse dedicated ports on the KVM to the USB 2.0/USB 3.0 ports on the KVM. The USB 2.0/USB 3.0 ports do not have the built-in special chips found in the dedicated keyboard and mouse ports. Plugging your keyboard into the USB 2.0/USB 3.0 ports effectively treats it as if it were directly connected to the computer.
Due to the wide variety of keyboard models available in the market, our R&D department cannot conduct compatibility tests on every keyboard. Below are some keyboard models that have been reported as incompatible by customers: Dell KB813, Cherry KC 1000SC(and similar keyboards with a card slot), Logitech MX series (some of which cannot manually switch between Windows and macOS modes), Roccat, and certain Microsoft keyboard models.
You can also refer to keyboard and mouse models that have been tested and approved by our R&D department:
  1. Q: Does HDC403-P have a LAN port?

A: Yes, it does. HDC403-P has a built-in USB Ethernet Adapter, which adds a standard RJ45 port to all the PCs that are connected to the KVM and allows you to connect your computer to a router or network switch for a wired network connection without many network cables. Full 100Mbps Ethernet for fast, stable data transfer, more reliable than most wireless connections. Only one network cable can provide a wired network connection for your 4 PCs at the same time. The Network can be disabled or enabled in the KVM settings menu.
The LAN port on HDC403-P is solely designed for connecting network cables to enable all connected PCs to access the network. It does not support the use of control software to manage the KVM.
  1. Q: How can I operate the front panel?

A: When you use the front panel button or IR remote to control the KVM, the LCD display will inquiry your target action, then execute the command according to your operation. The LCD interface in the figure above is the main interface.
  1. Q: What is Auto Scan Mode and how to use it?

A: The Auto Scan feature can automatically switch the display at regular intervals between the input devices that are powered on and connected to the KVM. As a result, any input devices connected to each port can be monitored without user intervention. Auto scan mode is off by default. You can turn on the auto scan mode through the front panel button, keyboard hotkey, and IR Remote Control.
The front panel button:
