Compatibility Issues Like Typing Delay&Repeat Keys

Keywords: KVM; Keyboard; Mouse; Delay&Repeat; Troubleshooting
Applicable product model: All of the KVM switches, like HKS0401A1U; HKS0401A2U; HKS0402A1U; HKS0802A1U; PKS0802A10; HKS0403A1U, etc.
After connecting the keyboard and mouse to the KVM switch, you might experience compatibility issues such as certain keys on the keyboard not functioning correctly, key sticking, or typing delays. Please follow the troubleshooting steps below to address these concerns.
1. Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB 2.0 port of the KVM switch to check if they can function properly.
The USB 2.0 port does not have a dedicated chip, so connecting the keyboard and mouse to this port is essentially the same as directly connecting them to the computer. This minimizes compatibility issues between the keyboard, mouse, and the KVM switch.

If the keyboard and mouse work normally when connected to the USB 2.0 port, we recommend keeping this connection. Although the hotkey function will not be available in this case, you can still switch the input source using the remote control or the buttons on the front panel.
If the keyboard and mouse still do not function when connected to the USB 2.0 port, please proceed to the next troubleshooting step.
2. Please check if the version of the KVM switch you are using supports the keyboard and mouse pass-through mode.
This model is designed to enhance compatibility with keyboards and mice. Note that the following models do not support the pass-through mode: HKS0201A10, HKS0201A20, HKS0201A1U, HKS0201B1U, HKS0401A30, HKS0401A1U, HKS0401B1U, HKS0801A1U, HKS0801A30, HKS1601A10. All other KVM switches should support the pass-through mode.
For products that DO NOT support pass-through mode, there are three solutions:
A: Replace your keyboard and mouse with a basic wired one.
B: Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB 2.0 port of the KVM switch, but note that the hotkey function will be disabled.
C: Consider purchasing a KVM switch that supports keyboard and mouse pass-through mode.
You can contact us through the chat window at the bottom right. We would be happy to provide you with a discount.
For KVM switches that support pass-through mode, you have three options:
Check if the keyboard and mouse pass-through mode is enabled on the KVM switch. You can determine this by observing the mode light and listening to the buzzer.
A: For KVM switches with mode indicators, check if the "Mode Indicator" on the front panel is illuminated. If it is lit, the keyboard and mouse pass-through mode is enabled.
If the light is not on, you can try to use the following key combination to enable keyboard-mouse passthrough mode: [Scroll Lock] --> [Scroll Lock] --> F2 or [Right-Ctrl] --> [Right-Ctrl] - -> F2.

B: For KVM switches without mode indicators, you can try the following hotkey combination: [Scroll Lock] --> [Scroll Lock] --> F3 or [Right Ctrl] --> [Right Ctrl] --> F3. If you hear two beeps from the buzzer, it indicates that the pass-through mode is enabled. If you hear one beep, it means the pass-through mode is disabled.

C: If your KVM switch doesn't have a mode indicator or beep sounds even after using the hotkey, there's no need to worry. This indicates that you may have the latest version of the KVM switch, which has a built-in keyboard and mouse pass-through mode. In this case, the hotkey detection method is not applicable. The keyboard and mouse pass-through mode is always enabled by default on your KVM switch.
If you're still experiencing issues after enabling the pass-through mode, please proceed to the next troubleshooting step.
3. Please confirm whether the length of the USB cable connected between the computer and the KVM is within 2 meters.
If the length exceeds 2 meters, please replace it with a new USB cable that meets the length
requirements to ensure the normal transmission of USB signals.
4. Consider turning off the control software that comes with your keyboard and mouse.
Some keyboards and mice have special software for customization and setup, but this software can sometimes create compatibility conflicts with KVM switches. After saving any necessary settings, try closing the control software to see if the problem is resolved. If none of the above steps solve the problem, you can contact us through the chat window at the bottom right or by submitting feedback.
